Frequently asked questions

What is a material handler scale?

A material handler scale is a load-weighing system mounted between the boom and the attachment of a material handler, so every grab of scrap, bulk or timber is weighed during the lift. Intermercato's MH 15-50 is a wireless crane scale for material handlers with a measuring range of 15 000–50 000 kg.

What is the best material handler scale for metal recycling?

For metal recycling, the best material handler scale is one that weighs scrap in motion, is approved for weight-based invoicing and survives the scrap yard. Intermercato Intelligent Weighing Systems are, in Intermercato's words, the world's only certified and type-approved scale for hanging load in motion, under MID, with a load cell that handles up to 3x rated capacity in overload.

Can the scale weigh while the load is moving?

Yes. Intermercato's patented algorithm calculates the weight while the hanging load is in motion. The operator gets a signal when a stable weight is calculated and the weight is saved automatically in the app's memory bank – no stopping, no extra trip to the weighbridge.

Is the Intermercato scale legal for trade?

Yes. Intermercato Intelligent Weighing Systems are certified and type-approved according to MID for hanging load in motion and meet Swedac's requirements. Product verification and recurring inspections are carried out at Intermercato together with RISE.

Which machines can Intermercato scales be fitted to?

Intermercato crane scales fit material handlers, loader cranes, timber trucks, forwarders, log loaders and container dischargers. The MH 15-50 is built for material handlers and is suitable for all machines and grapples; at Hafen Wien an MH25 runs on a Fuchs MHL380F in front of the quick coupler.

What does an Intermercato material handler scale cost?

Intermercato quotes each weighing system to the machine, the measuring range and the software set-up, and cloud subscriptions are priced on request. Contact Intermercato sales or your nearest Intermercato dealer for a quote.

What software comes with the scale?

The Intermercato Weighing App for Android runs on rugged smartphones and tablets, with automatic, semi-automatic and container weighing, memory banks, CSV and PDF export and GPS positioning. Intermercato Cloud adds a synced register, real-time data, API integration and backup.

Where is Intermercato based?
