Material handler scales in the field: Hafen Wien and Cronimet Norr
Two real installations show what an Intermercato material handler scale does in daily work: a port that needed one scale for many attachments, and a scrap yard that needed every truck load right without leaving the loading area. Both run on Fuchs material handlers. Both weigh in the lift.

Hafen Wien: change the attachment, not the weighing system
The challenge
At Hafen Wien, a Fuchs MHL380F works with several attachments: an orange-peel grab, two loading grabs, a Big Bag spreader and a double load hook. Changing attachments is part of the job. The port needed a weighing solution that could stay on the machine and deliver reliable weight data regardless of which attachment was in use.
The solution
The Intermercato MH25 Intelligent Weighing System, installed in front of the OilQuick OQC70/55 quick coupler. The scale stays with the machine when attachments change. Instead of a separate weighing solution for each attachment, the same MH25 is used throughout the operation. Different attachments weigh different amounts, so the operator tares directly from the cab when switching.
Built for continuous operation
The MH25 combines a lightweight yet robust stainless-steel construction with wireless communication – no additional cabling between the scale and the cab.
What Hafen Wien gets
- Accurate weight data with every lift
- One weighing system for multiple attachments
- Tare directly from the cab when changing attachments
- Wireless communication without additional cables
- Weighing integrated into loading and unloading
- A robust stainless-steel construction for demanding material handling
Weighing shouldn’t interrupt the work. It should be part of it. Intermercato thanks Hafen Wien and Kiesel GmbH for the cooperation. Read the original story.
CRONIMET NORR AB: small yard, smarter loading
The challenge
At CRONIMET NORR AB in Kalix, Sweden, limited space makes every movement count. Repositioning and driving back and forth to the weighbridge cost time the yard does not have.
The solution
Intermercato’s wireless weighing system on a Fuchs MHL340. Operators weigh scrap directly during loading, which helps optimise every truck load without unnecessary repositioning or repeated trips to the weighbridge.
Weighing scrap that moves
Scrap shifts during lifting. Intermercato’s dedicated weighing technology quickly stabilises the measurement and delivers accurate results under real working conditions. That is dynamic weighing of hanging load in motion at work.
What the customer says
“The scales are reliable, accurate and have made the loading process considerably more efficient.” – Ola Mannberg, CEO, Cronimet Norr
Reliable weight data, less handling and a smoother workflow – regardless of the size of the operation. Read the original story.
More Intermercato customers
- Kuljetusliike A. Nieminen Ky – second prize in the Nordic Trophy Timbertruck category, with an Intermercato Intelligent Weighing FR5 crane scale on the truck. Nieminen is impressed with the accuracy and repeatability of the weighing system, which helps him optimise his loads each day.
- Treyve Paysages – uses the Intermercato GRX 10-5 grapple for compact, precise and efficient material handling in urban landscaping.
What the two cases have in common
- The scale lives on the machine – no separate weighing step.
- Wireless – nothing extra to route to the cab.
- Weighing in the lift – the weight is known while the load is built.
- Fuchs material handlers – the MH range is suitable for all machines and grapples.

Frequently asked questions
Who uses Intermercato material handler scales?
Published Intermercato customers include Hafen Wien (Port of Vienna), Austria, with an MH25 on a Fuchs MHL380F, and CRONIMET NORR AB in Kalix, Sweden, with an Intermercato wireless weighing system on a Fuchs MHL340.
How does Cronimet Norr use its scrap handler scale?
Operators weigh scrap directly during loading on a Fuchs MHL340, helping optimise every truck load without unnecessary repositioning or repeated trips to the weighbridge. The technology stabilises the measurement quickly even when scrap shifts during lifting.
How does Hafen Wien use one scale with many attachments?
The MH25 is installed in front of the OilQuick OQC70/55 quick coupler, so it stays on the Fuchs MHL380F when attachments change. The operator tares from the cab for each attachment.
What did Cronimet Norr say about the Intermercato scale?
Ola Mannberg, CEO of Cronimet Norr, says the scales are reliable and accurate and have made the loading process considerably more efficient.
